What happens when someone you respect gives you advice that contradicts what you believe God already told you?
There’s a difference between being teachable and giving someone else authority over an assignment God entrusted to you.
In this episode of the Bold Becomers Podcast, we’re using 1 Kings 13 to explore how to discern godly counsel, recognize when you’re outsourcing your discernment, and become intentional about who gets to influence your calling.
We’re talking about:
• Why spiritual authority doesn’t replace your responsibility to hear God
• How to evaluate whose voice should influence your assignment
• The difference between godly counsel and surrendering your discernment
• How fear, approval, experience, and authority can influence whose advice you trust
• Why discernment requires both conviction and humility
• How to receive wisdom and correction without surrendering stewardship
Because the question isn’t whether other people should have a voice.
The better question is: What authority should their voice have?
🎧 CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK:
Choose one decision connected to your assignment where you’re hearing multiple opinions. Ask yourself: What has God already made clear, whose voices am I allowing to influence this decision, and what authority have I given them?
✨ Today’s Bold Declaration:
I am intentional about who influences my assignment.

How much has it cost you to be liked?
People pleasing can give you the approval, acceptance, and belonging you were hoping for, but what did you have to exchange to get it?
In this episode of the Bold Becomers Podcast, Chara Jané explores how people pleasing can quietly interfere with your God-given purpose by causing you to alter your authentic expression to manage how others perceive you. You’ll learn why people pleasing can actually work, what makes that so dangerous for your assignment, and how to recognize when approval is costing you your peace, progress, opportunities, or alignment.
We’ll talk about:
• The real cost of people pleasing and seeking approval
• Why becoming may change your boundaries, voice, visibility, and relationships
• The four Anchors of Authenticity: Acceptance, Autonomy, Agency, and Alignment
• How people pleasing becomes Background Behavior
• The difference between caring about someone’s response and giving it authority over your expression
• The Approval Audit, a six-question exercise for identifying where you may be shrinking or altering yourself for approval
• How to choose purpose and authentic expression without becoming inconsiderate of others
This week’s challenge: Complete the Approval Audit and ask yourself: What would I do differently if their favorable perception of me were no longer the goal? Today’s episode is sponsored by Aligned for the Assignment, my signature three-day experience for extraordinary women of faith who know they’re carrying something significant and are ready to move forward differently.

What if the mistake you’re afraid of making isn’t actually the mistake you’re making?
You’ve said yes to God. You’re moving in obedience and stepping into your God-given assignment. But now another question is running in the background: What if I get it wrong?
In this episode of the Bold Becomers Podcast, we’re talking about obedience over perfection and what happens when the fear of making mistakes or getting it wrong starts interfering with your willingness to participate.
We’ll unpack why perfectionism can keep you focused on how your work will be received instead of doing the work required to develop, why you need permission to practice, and how to separate the assignment from your execution of it.
You’ll also learn how to recognize the difference between Background Behavior and Bold Becoming when things don’t go as planned:
Background Behavior: Imperfection → Shame → Retreat → More Preparation
Bold Becoming: Experience → Lesson → Adjustment → Continued Participation
Your challenge: What are you afraid of getting wrong?
Name the mistake you’re afraid of making, then ask yourself: Would this actually require me to abandon the assignment, or would it require me to learn, adjust, and continue?
You don’t need perfect execution to give God your yes.
Bold Declaration: Today, I boldly declare I’m giving God my unconditional obedience.

You know what God is calling you to do. You’ve prayed about it, prepared for it, learned about it, and maybe even invested in becoming equipped for it.
But are you still preparing for something it’s time to start practicing?
In this episode of the Bold Becomers Podcast, Chara explores the difference between preparation and participation and why some of the capacity you’re waiting to have before stepping into your God-given assignment can only be developed once you begin.
Because preparation can give you information, but participation gives you experience.
You’ll discover how to recognize when preparation has quietly become procrastination, why growth requires feedback from lived experience, and how to give yourself permission to start faithfully at Level 1 instead of expecting yourself to already perform at Level 20.
Chara also connects this conversation to Navigate Your Growth within the SHINE Method and shares a simple rhythm for developing as you move:
Prepare → Participate → Evaluate → Adjust → Participate Again
And perhaps most importantly, she challenges the belief that you need every instruction before you begin. Sometimes the next direction becomes clear only after you’ve acted on what God has already entrusted to you.
Your challenge: What have you been preparing for that you actually need to start practicing?
Choose one aligned action and take it within the next three days.
You don’t have to be the finished version of yourself to begin your assignment. You have enough to participate.
Bold Declaration: Today, I boldly declare I’m ready to participate.

You know God is calling you to more, so why do you keep playing small?
You can have clarity about your assignment and still find yourself shrinking, hesitating, procrastinating, over-preparing, waiting for permission, or staying behind the scenes. The problem may not be that you don’t know what God is calling you to do. There may be beliefs, stories, and behaviors operating in the background that continue influencing how you show up.
In this episode of the Bold Becomers Podcast, Chara Jané explores how Background Behavior can keep extraordinary women of faith repeating patterns that no longer align with who they are becoming. Through four powerful lenses, Acceptance, Autonomy, Agency, and Alignment, you’ll learn how to examine the truth, beliefs, stories, and behaviors influencing your decisions and begin taking aligned action toward your assignment.
In this episode, you’ll discover:
* Why clarity about God’s calling doesn’t always lead to action
* How playing small can disguise itself as preparation, productivity, or being “better behind the scenes”
* Four questions to help you identify Background Behavior
* How outdated beliefs and stories can influence your decisions
* What it looks like to adjust, add, or stop behaviors that no longer align with your assignment
* How practicing aligned action can build confidence as you become
You don’t have to become fearless overnight. Start by identifying one place where your behavior doesn’t match what you believe about your assignment and choose one aligned action.
There is grace for your becoming without permission to remain stagnant. Your assignment doesn’t require perfection. It requires participation.

What if feeling unprepared for what God is calling you to do doesn’t mean you’re not ready?
In this episode of the Bold Becomers Podcast, Chara challenges the way we think about readiness, purpose, and assignment. We often look at what God is calling us to do, recognize the gap between who we are and who we think we need to be, and use that gap as evidence that we’re not equipped. But part of the assignment may be becoming the woman who can carry it.
Through the story of Moses and her own experience of wrestling with God’s assignments, Chara explores why purpose is often revealed through assignment and how obedience over time develops us for what we’ve been called to carry.
If you know God is calling you forward but you’ve been wondering, “Am I really ready for this?” this episode will help you stop using what’s still developing as evidence against yourself and begin moving with what you already have.

You started this season with a pressing feeling. Needing to escape. Needing to be further. Needing to accomplish more.
But that was never really the problem.
The challenge was never fixing something broken inside of you. It was noticing the patterns and the experiences that made you own the identity of broken in the first place.
In this season finale of the Bold Becomers Podcast, Chara walks back through every episode of the Becoming Out Loud season, honoring the permission posts you passed together, and delivering the truth that ties it all together. Bold becoming is not a destination. It is a journey. And you are already on it.
Joy is not what you feel when you get there. Joy is what helps you get there.

• Chara's personal reflection on revisiting her vision and realizing she was further along than she felt
• A full walk through every episode of the Becoming Out Loud season and the permission post each one helped you pass

Has there ever been a season where you were going through the most, and God used you to speak life into someone else anyway?
If so, you already know what this episode is about. Because becoming is not just for you.
In this episode of the Bold Becomers Podcast, Chara unpacks one of the most important truths of the entire season. The becoming work you have been doing, the bushel experiences you have survived, the background behavior you have recognized, the permission slip you signed, none of it was ever just about you. Becoming is for purpose. And purpose is not for you. Purpose is for others.
When you realize that showing up is not selfishness, it is service, everything changes.
IN THIS EPISODE:
• Why the heaviest seasons of your becoming are often the seasons God uses you most
• How showing up in faithfulness, even imperfectly, touches people you may never know about
• Why becoming is for purpose, and purpose is never just for you
• How Embrace and Express, the E in the SHINE Method, gives you permission to show up with spectators, good and bad
• Why that permission slip you signed is not just about your freedom, it is about every life your yes will touch
• Practical strategies to reframe showing up as service rather than selfishness
• This week's Challenge of the Week: identify one person in your sphere who can use what you have
• PLUS: The first ever Confessions of a Bold Becomer segment. Stay to the end.

God sees you. And He's sending a message to you today. You are not behind.
You have been measuring yourself against two things that have nothing to do with you. Someone else's progress. And the timeline you built in your own head for where you should be by now. Both are making you feel behind on a race you were never supposed to be running in the first place.
In this episode of the Bold Becomers Podcast, Chara introduces a powerful concept called Permission Posts, the specific decision points God designs along your becoming journey that are uniquely yours. No one else is assigned your path. No one else has your posts. And your becoming is not behind. It is on God's perfect schedule.
When you have an assignment on your life, it doesn't require comparison. It requires commitment.
IN THIS EPISODE:
• Why comparing your journey to someone else's is like using the wrong map
• What Permission Posts are and how God uses them to move you forward on your specific path
• The children of Israel as a biblical example of a permission post and what happened when they refused to decide
• How Embrace and Express, the E in the SHINE Method, gives you permission to show up where you are with what you have right now
• Why God is glorified by your obedience in the process, not just the perfected result
• A practical journaling strategy to identify your most recent permission post
• This week's Challenge of the Week: identify the permission post you just passed or the one you are standing at right now

Nobody is coming to authorize your becoming.
Not your pastor. Not your spouse. Not your friends or your community. You keep saying you are waiting on God. But what if God is patiently waiting on you?
In this episode of the Bold Becomers Podcast, Chara shares a personal moment of reckoning, sitting in prayer and hearing God ask her directly: when are you going to choose something different. She had been clear about what she did not like. Vocal about what was frustrating her. She had even cried about it. But she had never once said, I am not doing this anymore.
Authenticity begins with agency. You cannot become who God created you to be while waiting for someone else to authorize your becoming.
The permission you have been waiting on has been in your own hands the entire time.
IN THIS EPISODE:
• Why awareness of a problem is not the same as deciding to change it
• Chara's personal story of hearing God ask her to choose something different
• How Navigate Your Growth, the N in the SHINE Method, requires an active decision, not passive waiting
• What spiritually-disguised waiting actually looks like, from over-planning to needing everyone's agreement first
• Why the yes required to move forward has always been yours alone to give
• 3 practical strategies to move from awareness into agency starting today
KEY QUOTE:
"You don't need your permission slip signed by anyone else. You have the authority to sign your own."
